Five arrested in North Augusta, charged after 9-mile chase

Five people have been arrested in connection with a car chase authorities say began after an early morning shooting in Augusta on Wednesday.

Nathaniel Dennis, of Augusta, is charged with public drunkenness, disobeying a lawful order and giving false information.

Donte Fogle, identified as the driver of a white Tahoe, is charged with failure to stop for blue lights and Calvin Cook, Evelyn Walton, Quantez Dunn with public drunkenness.

North Augusta Department of Public Safety picked up the chase on Old Edgefield Road and Lady Street after a nine mile chase through Richmond County, according to a police report.

The pursuit ended at 1744 Georgia Avenue when the front passenger, reported to be Dennis, exited the vehicle and fled on foot, the report states.

Officers were able to identify the suspects using their Georgia IDs. Officers were able to identify Dennis after making contact with Richmond County deputies who stated they found Dennis’ ID after he had thrown it from the window during the chase.

Dennis told officers that he fled because he was drunk and afraid, the police report states. He also said he had been at the club all night, according to the police report.

Dennis is wanted in Georgia for violating his parole.

All suspects were taken to Aiken County Detention Center.
