Home decor superstore coming to Augusta West Plaza shopping center

Construction plans show an 85,000-square-foot At Home store, similar to the one depicted in this company hand-out image, being built in space at the Augusta West Plaza formerly occupied by apparel retailer Burlington. SPECIAL

A Texas-based home décor superstore will be moving into the Augusta West Plaza shopping center at the corner of Bobby Jones Expressway and Wrightsboro Road, according to published construction plans.

At Home will occupy the roughly 85,000-square-foot space left vacant by apparel retailer Burlington when it relocated to the Augusta Exchange shopping center on Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway earlier this year.

Blueprints depict a typical big-box store format with the Plano-based company’s standard blue-and-gray façade on the exterior. Bids on the project, which are being handled by Spring, Texas-based contractor, Axiom Construction Co. LLC, are due Jan. 3.

An At Home spokeswoman reached Friday was unable to provide details on the store and said corporate offices were closed for the week. She said she would forward questions about the store to a colleague, who did not immediately return the call.

The mostly vacant 207,000-square-foot Augusta West Plaza shopping center, whose tenants include Dollar Tree and Citi Trends, is managed by New York-based Brixmore Property Group Inc. A phone message left with Alex Conner, the company’s Atlanta-based leasing agent, was not immediately returned Friday.

Construction plans list the At Home store as store “No. 200” and located at 1323 Augusta West Parkway.

The retailer’s website says the typical At Home store is 115,000 square feet and offers more than 50,000 items, including furniture, garden, home textiles, housewares, patio, rugs, seasonal décor, tabletop décor and wall décor.

The company’s store locator lists the nearest store to Augusta in Greenville, S.C. At Home said on its website it plans to open 600 stores nationwide.
