Ailing mom lacks budget to brighten kids’ Christmas

An illness that keeps this Augusta woman from working full time might mean a not-so-happy Christmas for her three children.

She can only work part time, and that allows her only to provide the necessities she can afford. Just keeping a roof over their heads is difficult, she says.

“I am asking here today, can you please help me?” she writes. “I just don’t have it this year.”

The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for 86 years. The fund has helped people such as this since 1930. Last year, the charity raised more than$100,000 for children and families across the region.
