A man has been arrested after an attempted convenience store robbery in Gibson during which a patrol car was also stolen.
Kyle Mathew Tarr, 27, was arrested and charged with theft of a patrol car after the attempted armed robbery at Mini Mart at 213 E. Main St. on Thursday.
Glascock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call after 9 p.m. during which they requested GBI Region 7 assistance, an agency news release states.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a white male, wearing dark clothing, brandished a handgun as employees of the business were leaving, according to the news release. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money, it states.
During the investigation, a Glascock County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle was stolen from the Mini Mart, the news release states.
Sheriff Jeremy Kelley later identified the vehicle as his own and stated the patrol car was later located without damages in the 100 block of Dean Street. He was unsure if the two incidents were related.
Initial report is that there was only one suspect but the case is still under investigation.
Tarr was arrested and taken to McDuffie County jail, according to news release states. Additional charges are pending, it states.
