Two Arizona men killed in Aiken County crash

Two Arizona men were killed in an Aiken County car accident Wednesday.

Richard E. Barragan, 24, of Yuma, Ariz., and Rogelio Villanueva, 26, of Mesa, Ariz., were the victims, according to Darryl Ables, chief deputy coroner for Aiken County.

According to a news release from Ables, the men were traveling west on Shaws Fork Road in a Ford SUV driven by Barragan. The driver failed to stop at the intersection of New Holland Road and struck a Hyundai SUV driven by Mackenzie Larochelle of Aiken.

Barragan was pronounced dead at AU Medical Center and Villanueva was pronounced dead at the scene, Ables said. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.

Three other passengers in the Ford SUV were transported to AU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, and Larochelle was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Toxicology results are pending on Barragan, Ables said.
