Times are hard for a mother of four who recently lost her husband.
The Martinez woman said her husband succumbed to cancer in August and her children are having difficulty coping with his death. She, too, is feeling the strain of now being a single-parent and sometimes feels “defeated.”
“Financially, I can barely make it,” she writes. “I just want them to have a great Christmas, although I know they are missing important people.”
The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for 86 years. The fund has helped people such as this since 1930. Last year, the charity raised more than $100,000 for children and families across the region.
