Stabbing suspect granted bond

An Augusta man accused of stabbing another was granted a $25,000 bond Friday in Richmond County Superior Court.

Carlton L. Hattaway, 29, has been in jail since Dec. 6. Around 3 a.m. that day, Clyde Hinson was walking on Old Barton Chapel Road when a vehicle stopped and, he told sheriff’s investigators, Hattaway got out and stabbed him in the abdomen.

Hattaway, who had steady employment, has only one prior felony conviction. Senior Judge Roger Dunaway Jr. of the Toombs Judicial Circuit set the $25,000 bond for Hattaway.
