Armed robbery reported at Augusta Family Dollar

Three employees of a Family Dollar reported an armed robbery on Thursday evening.

Just before 7:30 p.m., a black male with a black and silver pistol entered the Family Dollar at 3258 Wrightsboro Road. The man pointed the pistol at a clerk at the cash register and repeatedly told the clerk to “give me the money.”

Employees working in the back of the store called 911 while the clerk pulled the drawer out of the register and put it on the counter. The robber grabbed money from the drawer before running out the front door.

Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office attempted to track the robber with a K9 unit, but were unsuccessful.
