Heart attack by husband could keep Martinez woman from providing Christmas for children

Providing a good Christmas for her children could be difficult for a Martinez woman after her husband suffered a massive heart attack last month.

Her husband was recently discharged from the hospital after quadruple bypass surgery and has suffered complications. He won’t be able to return to work until February, and she is on unpaid medical leave to care for him.

“It’s been very difficult worrying about the bills and kids this Christmas,” she writes.

The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for 86 years. The fund has helped people such as this since 1930. Last year, the charity raised more than $100,000 for children and families across the region.
