An Aiken man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash.
Corey Raiford, 36, was driving alone on Gun Range Road at a high rate of speed when he failed to yield and slid across U.S. Highway 1 North into a deep culvert, according to a news release from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m., and Raiford’s 2006 Ford F-150 was not visible from the road. Carlton said the victim’s wife searched for him and discovered the vehicle around 7 a.m.
Raiford, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple body trauma, Carlton said.
Toxicology results are pending, and Carlton said video evidence of the crash was recovered from near the scene.
