The Community Foundation for the CSRA will award $622,196 to 57 nonprofit organizations in the Augusta area on Friday.
The event is at 10 a.m. at the Enterprise Mill Events Center. This is the foundation’s 22nd year supporting the work of local nonprofits.
About 100 applications were reviewed by a panel and recipients were selected based on their planning for the funding requested, according to foundation associate Ellice Whatley. Nineteen of the recipients will receive the full amount requested.
Amounts requested ranged from $4,000 to $15,000, the maximum available. Friday’s event will allow some recipients to share their plans with the community on what they plan to do with the funding.
The organizations selected provide a number of services including helping the under-resourced, providing tools to improve health and education and enhancing the quality of life through the arts in Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, Burke, Aiken and Edgefield counties.
The grants being awarded are made possible by support from the Masters Tournament.
