Hepzibah man charged in early morning stabbing in Augusta

A Hephzibah man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing this morning in Augusta.

Carlton Leigh Hattaway, 29, is charged with aggravated assault in the stabbing of Clyde Allen Hinson, 30, of Hephzibah, in the 2400 block of Old Barton Chapel Road.

A police report states Hinson was walking down Old Barton Chapel Road when a maroon Ford Explorer with white fenders pulled up to him and Hattaway got out, yelling obscenities.

Hinson stated Hattaway stabbed him in the lower abdomen with an unknown object and then fled the scene in the vehicle, according to the report.

He was taken to AU Medical Center, it states.
