Man charged with attempted murder in Warrenville shooting

An Augusta man wanted in connection to a shooting last week in Warrenville has been arrested.

Anthony Mark White was arrested Monday in connection to Thursday’s shooting incident on Piney Heights Road, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

He is charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery in the first degree, four counts of kidnapping, discharging a firearm into a vehicle and commission of a violent crime.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Piney Heights Road. Deputies found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound to her left hip. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the department said.

Witnesses told investigators that a white male approached the vehicle they were in and struck one passenger with a handgun on the arm and leg several times. The man then fired his gun three times.

Authorities suspect that the incident may be drug-related, according to a news release.
