Grandmother seeks help to give grandsons a good Christmas

A grandmother wants to make sure her grandchildren have Christmas presents to open this year.

The Gibson, Ga., resident has custody of her grandsons but is unable to work because of medical problems. The accompanying medical expenses have left her nothing to buy gifts for the boys.

“I wanted the boys to have a good Christmas,” she writes. “They understand that we cannot afford much and we will celebrate the real meaning of Christmas. I appreciate anything you might be able (to do) to help their Christmas be better.”

The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for 86 years. The fund has helped people such as this since 1930. Last year, the charity raised more than $100,000 for children and families across the region.
