All lanes on the newly constructed River Watch Parkway expansion are set to open to motorists Monday and Tuesday.
The eastbound lane closure will be removed Monday, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation. The westbound closure will be removed Tuesday, giving motorists full access to all four lanes.
The inside travel lanes will be opened beginning at Jamaica Court and extending to Baston Road, according to the news release.
Officials did say motorists can expect minor delays as the contractor, E.R. Snell, opens the lanes.
The extension is part of a $35 million road widening project that now connects Columbia County in Evans to downtown Augusta. The project tied in portions of Old Evans Road and the entirety of Old Petersburg, which was officially renamed River Watch Parkway in August.
