Aiken County Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in Warrenville

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Warrenville.

 

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Piney Heights Road during which responding deputies found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound to her left hip, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses told investigators that a white male approached the vehicle that they were in and struck one of the passengers with a handgun on the arm and leg several times.

The man then fired his gun three times.

The victim was taken to an area hospital to treat non-life threatening injuries and was in stable condition, according to the news release.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspect, who was wearing a black beanie cap and black hoodie, fled the area in a black 4-door vehicle. In preliminary findings investigators discovered that the shooting incident is possibly drug-related, according to the department.
