A Graniteville man has been charged with assault and battery and other offenses in a standoff with authorities at an Aiken apartment complex Tuesday.

Anthony Dixon, 27, was arrested at the Hahn Village apartments.

He is charged with assault and battery in the 3rd degree, robbery, common law and strong arm, domestic violence, high and aggravated, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful conduct toward a child.

Aiken Department of Public Safety officers went to Hahn Village around 3:15 p.m. to serve the warrants. They were met at the front door by a female and subsequently at the backdoor by Dixon who was holding a gun in his hand and had another in his waistband, a department release states. Dixon then retreated into the apartment, according to the news release.

Officers outside heard what sounded to be three gunshots from inside the residence, the release states. The female got out safely early in the incident and no one was injured.

Dixon eventually surrendered around 4:40 p.m. and was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center.
