GDOT to dedicate portion of Peach Orchard Road to Bernard F. Miles

A special dedication is scheduled for a road in Augusta this week.

A portion of US 25/Peach Orchard Road, between Lumpkin Road and I-520, will be dedicated to Bernard F. Miles, according to the Gerogia Department of Transportation.

A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 2934 Peach Orchard Road during which the road will be dedicated as the Bernard F. Miles Memorial Highway.

Georgia DOT State Transportation Board member Don Grantham will join officials including state Rep. Henry “Wayne” Howard and Rep. Sheila Nelson to honor the Miles family, according to the news release.

Miles served with the Richmond County Board of Education and as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives among many other pursuits.
