Cool weather expected for Thanksgiving Day

Thursday is expected to be the coolest day of the Thanksgiving holiday period for Augusta, which could also see a little rain.

 

The National Weather Service in Columbia forecasts a high of 57 degrees, with a 30 percent chance of rain. The low is expected to be 39.

Today will see the highest temperatures at 69 degrees, with a nighttime low of 46. There will also be a 20 percent chance of rain overnight.

Shoppers heading out to stores on Black Friday will be greeted with sunny weather and temperatures in the low 60s, with an afternoon high of 63. The temperature will dip to 41 that night.

On Saturday, more sunshine is predicted with a high of 68 and a low of 42. Sunday will likely see the lowest nighttime temperatures at 34, with a high that day of 62.

Average temperatures for Wednesday through Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend have traditionally held a high in the mid 60s and a low in the mid 40s according to AccuWeather. Temperatures in 2016 were higher and slightly lower than usual with highs at 77 degrees on Thursday and Friday before dropping to a low of 41 on Sunday.
