Car crash causes power outage in North Augusta

Nearly 500 homes are without power in North Augusta following a car crash Tuesday night.

According to North Augusta Public Safety dispatch, at 8:36 p.m., a car crashed into a power pole in the 1400 block of Georgia Avenue near the post office.

South Carolina Electric & Gas reports 479 customers are without power. Information on the online outage map indicates the company expects to have power restored to the area by midnight.

WRDW-TV reports the power outage is causing technical difficulties at their station.
