One person has been killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash this morning in Aiken County.
Kurt D. Lesher, 54, of Aiken, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 5:37 a.m. near the intersection of Drag Strip and Atomic roads, according to a news release from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. Lesher was attempting a left-turn from Drag Strip unto Atomic Road when he failed to yield the right of way, the news release states. He was struck on the driver’s side of the 2006 Honda Civic he was driving and suffered multiple body trauma.
Christian Carter and his sister, Ashley Carter, both of Jackson, S.C., suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. Christian Carter was driving a 2011 Dodge Caliber that hit Lesher but was not at fault in the incident, the release states.
Toxicology results are pending. An investigation is being conducted by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
