A Doctors Hospital employee has received national recognition for her work.
Doris Douglas, cafe supervisor for the hospital, was recognized nationally as one of four 2017 Sodexo C.A.R.E.S winners, according to a hospital news release. The award annually recognizes employees for their service and impact in healthcare facilities.
“I was blessed to be able to help one of my coworkers who was dear to me and who really touched me,” Douglas said.
Douglas joined the hospital in November 2000 in an entry level position in the cafeteria. In addition to supervising the cafeteria, Douglas fills in part time as an evening greeter and supports valet services.
“We couldn’t be more proud to see Doris recognized on the national level,” said Doug Welch, CEO, Doctors Hospital. We all know how great she is. This recognition brings attention to the great team of compassionate caregivers that we have throughout our hospital.”
“Doris is one of the most kind and compassionate people I’ve ever met,” said Chef Greg Mueller, Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Doctors Hospital. “She is always smiling and treats everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve. It’s the core of who she is and that’s what makes her special.”
Chuck Goode, District Manager for Sodexo Healthcare Services and Chef Greg Mueller presented the award to Douglas on Tuesday at a special ceremony in the hospital. Douglas is the second Doctors Hospital employee to receive national recognition this year.
“It is such an honor to be recognized for caring for others. It’s what we are called to do and what I look forward to doing every day,” Douglas added.
