Woman sought in connection to leaving Evans store with unpaid merchandise

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to identify a woman in connection to shoplifting at a local Walmart.

A news release from the office states at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, the woman arrived at the Evans Walmart, scanned $102.43 worth of merchandise at the self-checkout register and used a gift card to pay only 31 cents for the items.

An associate confronted the woman as she walked away from the register with the merchandise, but she continued out of the store without making any further payment for the merchandise, and left in a silver Chevrolet Avalanche, the news release states.
