Man arrested in sexual assault, carjacking case


A man wanted for sexual assault, kidnapping and carjacking in North Augusta is in custody, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Brian Harmon, 23, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Sunday after he surrendered to North Augusta authorities.

Harmon was taken into custody without incident by deputies without incident and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center, a news release from the sheriff’s office states.

He is charged with sexual assault, kidnapping and carjacking.

Harmon was a suspect in a June 8 incident in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue in North Augusta, during which a man kidnapped a woman and drove her to an unidentified location and sexually assaulted her.
