Augusta woman killed in Interstate 20 crash

An Augusta woman was killed this morning in a traffic accident in Aiken County.

Brittney A. Brown, 28, crashed into the guard rail shortly before 10 a.m. near mile marker 11 on Interstate 20, according to a news release from the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

Brown, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the 1998 Ford Explorer and pronounced dead at the scene, Chief Deputy Coroner Darryl Ables said.

After hitting the guard rail, she overcorrected and the vehicle overturned and came to rest on the eastbound lane guard rail, Ables said.

Toxicology results are pending, he said.
