Woman accused of killing boyfriend makes first court appearance

An Augusta woman accused of murder in the fatal shooting of her boyfriend made her first court appearance Monday.

Leslie Harris, 40, is accused of murder in the Oct. 5 death of Michael Davenport, 50. According to her arrest warrant, read to her by Richmond County Magistrate Judge Stephen Shepard, Davenport was found dead from multiple gunshots in a room at the Ramada Limited on the Gordon Highway.

Harris’ initial appearance in Magistrate Court had been continued two weeks because she was hospitalized. On Monday, Harris was in a wheelchair. An incident report of the crime was not available at the Richmond County Sheriff Office .
