Man allegedly gave 3-year-old son gun that killed Warrenville man Tuesday

A Graniteville man has been arrested in Tuesday’s homicide of a Warrenville man after allegedly giving his 3-year-old son the gun that fired the fatal shot.

 

Albert Monted Davis, 31, of Graniteville, was charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen handgun, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unlawful conduct to a minor in the death of Timothy R. Johnson, 23.Davis was arrested at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies responding to the incident found Johnson with a gunshot wound to the chest outside a mobile home park in the 100 block of Beckham Road in Gloverville. Witnesses told investigators Davis gave his son his handgun to chase Johnson around the yard when the handgun was discharged and struck Johnson in the chest, a news release from the sheriff’s office states.

Johnson died from a gunshot wound to his torso, according to an email from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

The Aiken County Solicitor’s Office, South Carolina Department of Social Services and the coroner’s office assisted with the investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to a news release.
