The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office released the name of a 13-year-old boy who was arrested after an early morning shooting in Augusta killed a woman.

Zitedrick Shelley, of First Avenue in Augusta, was arrested Thursday morning in connection to the murder and armed robbery of Mable Florence Jordan, 61.

Shelley is charged with murder and armed robbery, a news release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office states. He will be charged as an adult, Lt. Allan Rollins said.

Augusta University officers, who were notified of the disturbance at 12:40 a.m., found Jordan lying on the side of 15th Street.

Deputies responded to the scene after reports of shots fired in the area, and a K-9 unit assisted with a search of the area and took the suspect into custody, the sheriff’s office said.

Jordan was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m., Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said.

Shelley was booked through the Charles B. Webster Detention Center and has been transported to a juvenile facility.
