North Augusta’s “Annie” to lead Christmas parade

Heidi Gray Coughenour, who starred in a Broadway tour of the musical Annie, will be grand marshal for the 2017 North Augusta Lions Christmas Parade, the club announced Sunday.

The parade begins at 2 p.m. Dec. 10 on Georgia Avenue in North Augusta. This year’s theme is “The Sweetest Christmas Ever.”

Heidi, a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Paul Knox Middle School, made her Broadway tour debut at age 11. The road show played in 38 states in the US, then Jakarta, Indonesia and Singapore during the summer of 2016.

Since then, she was a guest panelist at Broadway Con and a guest performer for Cabaret for a Cause in in New York City. Locally, she has been a guest performer with the Augusta Broadway Singers and did her first full concert with the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council.
