Augusta man charged after selling ex-girlfriend’s car to salvage yard

An Augusta man was charged with theft by conversion on Friday after he handed his ex-girlfriend’s car over to a salvage yard.

On Friday afternoon, a Richmond County deputy responded to the 800 block of 1st Street for a reported theft. The complainant said she went to her ex-boyfriend’s home to pick up her vehicle and a few items after they broke up. When she arrived, she discovered her vehicle was missing.

The ex-boyfriend said he had Pull-A-Part come pick up the vehicle on Saturday, September 16 because he wanted the vehicle out of his yard, where it had been for three weeks. A tow truck driver transported the vehicle to Pull-A-Part, where he sold it for $205.

Pull-A-Part was told to hold on to the vehicle because parts had already been sold, and that nobody else could buy parts from the vehicle.
