Date set for Reality Winner’s bond reconsideration hearing

A date has been set for a bond reconsideration on the detention order in the case of the former Fort Gordon contractor accused of leaking a classified document.

The hearing in U.S. District Court for Reality Leigh Winner, 25, is set for 10 a.m. Friday.

Winner has pleaded not guilty to violating the federal Espionage Act. She has been held without bond since her arrest June 3.

Her defense team this week filed a motion seeking a re-hearing on the detention order issued June 8. The defense contends there is new information that contradicts or weakens the government’s case to hold Winner without bond pending trial, which is set to begin March 19.
