Aiken County Sheriff’s Office arrests man wanted in vehicle pursuit

A man who led Columbia County deputies on a chase after a drug-related incident Wednesday is in custody.

Mark Harmon, 35, of North Augusta, was arrested by Aiken County Sheriff’s Office around 1 a.m. at a Circle K on Bettis Academy Road near I-20, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Harmon faces outstanding charges with Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and is also expected to be charged with a possession of meth, which was found on his person when he was taken into custody, the news release states.

The suspect led deputies on a chase during which he struck a Richmond County investigator’s vehicle, Maj. Steve Morris, with Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, said.
