Electricity should be restored to all Augusta customers by Saturday, Georgia Power says

Georgia Power said almost all of the power should be restored in Augusta by noon Saturday.

The utility tweeted a list this afternoon that showed when power should be restored to the major cities in Georgia affected by Tropical Storm Irma. Athens was to have 95 percent of its power restored by 10 p.m., Atlanta by 10 p.m. Friday, Augusta by noon Saturday, and Savannah, Brunswick, Macon and Valdosta by 10 pm. Saturday. As of 10 a.m. today, there were still 158,000 of its customers statewide without power, including 1,441 in Richmond County and 1,244 in Columbia County, according to the outage map.

Jefferson Energy Cooperative said it was down to 39 customers without power around noon today, with 30 of those in Jefferson County and a handful in Burke, McDuffie, Warren and Emanuel counties.
