Columbia County will close the second of its two shelters to house Hurricane Irma evacuees Wednesday.

Officials released a statement Tuesday stating the Patriots Park shelter would stop accepting evacuees at 4 p.m. and would resume normal operations Thursday.

Liberty Park Community Center in Grovetown was opened as a second precautionary shelter for less than eight hours Monday. Officials stated late Monday that the three evacuees who checked in to the Grovetown shelter would be moved to Patriots Park and that the Liberty Park shelter would be closed.
