Road work begins on US 221 in McDuffie County

Motorists should expect delays on U.S. 221 in McDuffie County as crews begin road surfacing work .

Crews will close lanes on 221 between Jefferson and Columbia counties from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation states. Drivers will be directed in the six-mile work zone via a pilot car, the news release states.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.
