After a second chase from law enforcement officers, a couple wanted since Thursday has been arrested by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
James Edward Brown, 30, and Ashley Leanne Trull, 30, face charges that include attempted murder for allegedly firing on pursuing sheriff’s officers Thursday night.
Just after 10 a.m. Monday, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office received notification that Brown and Trull had carjacked a vehicle on Pine Log Road near Atomic Road. Deputies soon spotted the victim’s vehicle, a red Ford SUV, and the chase began.
The suspects fled to Augusta then returned back to South Carolina on U.S. Highway 1. The pursuit ended on S.C. Highway 421 and Clearwater Street after a S.C. Highway Patrol officer completed a successful pursuit intervention technique, also known as a “pit” maneuver, which disabled the Ford SUV.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported. Both suspects are being cleared medically and will be taken to the Aiken County Detention Center. More charges are forthcoming on both suspects.
On Thursday about 7:42 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop at the Bi-Lo in Langley. Brown and Trull allegedly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. During the chase, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, multiple gunshots were fired at the officers.
That pursuit ended when the suspects crashed on Atomic Road and fled on foot.
