Man charged in Saturday’s fatal crash

Richmond County sheriff’s officers have charged a driver involved in a fatal crash with driving under the influence.

Willie Lee Mitchell Jr., 57, is charged with DUI, improper movement and driving without a license in connection with the Saturday morning crash that killed 30-year-old James G. Collymore.

Collymore was traveling on a motorcycle southbound in the 3600 block of Deans Bridge Road when a pickup truck driven by Mitchell allegedly turned in front of him. The bike hit the rear panel of the truck. Collymore, who lived on the 3700 block of Pinnicle Drive in Hephzibah, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:05 a.m. Saturday.
