2 accused of shooting at officers during chase being sought

Aiken County authorities are looking for two people they said fired at officers during a chase Thursday night.

Police said James Edward Brown, 30, and Ashley Leanne Trull, 30, fled from Aiken County sheriff’s deputies who tried to stop them in the Bi-Lo parking lot on 2587 U.S. Highway 1 about 7:42 p.m., according to a sheriff’s news release. The chase began after deputies confirmed that the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup they were in was stolen, the release states.

The sheriff’s office said in the release that the suspects fired several times at officers during the pursuit. The suspects crashed through a fence on Atomic Road between Silver Bluff and Pine Log roads and ran away in a heavily wooded area. The Aiken County bloodhound team and law enforcement agencies including the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division assisted in the search.

Brown and Trull are each wanted for three counts of attempted murder. Brown is also wanted for failure to stop for blue lights and receiving stolen goods. Both should be considered armed and dangerous, the sheriff’s office warns..

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (803) 648-6811 or Crimestoppers of the Midlands at (888) 274-6372. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
