Thomson traffic to be slowed by road repairs

Drivers will need to practice patience for several weeks while traveling on State Route 223 in Thomson.

Starting today, crews will be patching failing surfaces from White Oak Road, near the county line, to the State Route 17 Thomson Bypass, according to a press release from Georgia DOT. In case of closed lanes, a flagman and pilot car will be present to move vehicles through the work zones.

Weather permitting, crews will work from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and road work could last until the end of September.
