An employee at Diamond Lakes Regional Park called police to report the theft of county equipment.
On Thursday, the Richmond County employee said a man wearing a reflective vest approached him and said he was volunteering at the park. The man said he was sent by the employee’s boss to collect a weed eater head.
The employee did not have the requested item, so he handed the man a Stihl weed eater valued at $300.
The suspect then got in his car and drove away, at which time the employee called his supervisor and found out he had been tricked.
