Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting Thursday night near the Olmstead Homes area of Harrisburg.

The sheriff’s office is looking for Berques Owens, 26 of Ivey Road, in the homicide investigation of Michael Dykes, 30, of Augusta.

Dykes died at AU Medical Center Thursday night after being shot at least once in the area of Broad Street and Milledge Road.

Authorities believe Owens shot Dykes, who is his brother, following an argument, said Sgt. Glen Rahn, a public information officer with the sheriff’s office .

Authorities could not say what caused the dispute but said there are warrants on Owens for murder, possession of firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Owens should be considered armed and dangerous and not be approached by the public, the news release states.

Anyone with information on Owen’s whereabouts are urged to call Investigator Lucas Grant, or Sgt. Chris Langford at 706-821-1020, or 821-1080.
