Augusta arson suspect pleads guilty

A man accused of setting a Peach Orchard Road store on fire pleaded guilty Monday.

Jacques K. Brister, 18, pleaded in Richmond County Superior Court to arson in the April 2 fire at the Dollar Tree store. Chief Judge Carl C. Brown Jr. sentenced Brister to serve one year in prison followed by 11 years on probation. The judge also ordered Brister to pay $105,000 in restitution.

Brister is named in a second indictment returned by a grand jury earlier this month. He is accused of multiple counts of aggravated child molestation.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on those charges Friday in Richmond County Superior Court.
