Man wanted in alleged assault on co-worker

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an Augusta man in an incident that left a co-worker injured.

Authorities say Maurice Ruff committed aggravated assault against Martin Timothy Depree, 40, on June 8. The alleged incident occurred at the Easy Go Food Mart gas station on 1801 Marvin Griffin Road during which Ruff reportedly attacked Depree from behind, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Depree sustained injuries to his arms, mouth, nose, lip and left and right eyes. His thumb also appeared to be dislocated, the report states.

Depree stated that the he and Ruff got into an argument about work duties at the convenience store two days prior to the incident. He stated that after leaving work Ruff and another male drove up in a black car and the three exchanged words. Depree said he was hit by an unknown object when he tried to leave, and also struck in his car and on the ground. After being hit several times and nearly strangled to unconsciousness, Depree told deputies an unknown male pulled Ruff from off of him and the two drove off.

Ruff is described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes who is 5 foot 9 inches and 205 pounds. His last known address is 3948 Ellen Street.

Anyone with more information concerning Ruff can contact Investigator Jonathan Counts, or any Violent Crimes Investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1046 or 706-821-1020.
