A safe, firearm and $1,800 in cash were stolen from an Augusta home Friday.
According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, a woman said that as she was leaving for work she noticed a dark vehicle parked in the woods across the street from her home in the 3000 block of Dennis Road. At 12:33 p.m., she received a call from her alarm company, but she believed it was a false alarm.
When she arrived home at 1:45 p.m., she noticed the back door had been kicked in and items were missing.
The stolen items included a floor safe valued at $175 and a Taurus .40-caliber handgun worth $300. Two doors were damaged in the burglary.
A neighbor provided a license plate number for a vehicle matching the description of the suspicious vehicle provided by the victim.
