Man arrested in Aiken fatal shooting case

Authorities in DeKalb County, Ga., arrested a suspect in the May 26 shooting death of a man in Aiken.

After an investigation of the shooting in the 800 block of Brandt Court, warrants were issued for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime on Tobias Marquez Thomas of Morgan Street in Aiken.

He is charged in the death of Kaliel Bey, who was found wounded in the parking lot of Paces Run Apartment. He died the next day at AU Medical Center.

Crimestoppers received a tip that Thomas was at a relative’s home in Decatur, and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office arrested him Thursday.

An extradition hearing will be held in Georgia, and Thomas will be sent to Aiken at a later date.
