Augusta University dean of Allied Health Sciences steps down

The dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University will step down in the fall to go back to a faculty role, the university announced Thursday evening.

Dr. Andrew Balas has been dean since 2011. He will step down on Aug. 11. According to his faculty profile, he has an academic appointment in the Department of Health Management and Informatics at the college.

Dr. Lester Pretlow, associate dean for academic affairs at the college, will serve as interim dean. He has been with the college since 2002.
