Coroner: Man drowned in Savannah River

The man whose body was found floating in the Savannah River on Saturday died from drowning.

Charles Williams, 66, of Greenville, S.C., was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 a.m. According to a release from Richmond County coroner Mark Bowen, the autopsy was completed Monday at the GBI Lab and determined the cause of death.

Williams’ body was found in the river near the 5th Street Marina.
