Early morning stabbing near downtown nightclub

An Augusta man has been charged in a stabbing near a downtown nightclub early this morning.

Warren Hills, 31, of 320 E. Boundary St., was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. Richmond County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Joe’s Underground Cafe on 8th Street about 3:03 a.m. regarding a subject with a knife. They found one victim stabbed several times, who was later taken to AU Medical Center with “serious injuries.”

According to a news release, an argument started at the front of the nightclub on the sidewalk and continued to the SunTrust Bank sidewalk where the stabbing occurred. Deputies went to Joe’s where the assailant was working and the victim was nearby, according to the release.
