Augusta transgender activist Rowan Feldhaus will save five lives as an organ donor, recovery agency LifeLink of Georgia announced Thursday.
Feldhaus, 25, was hailed as a hero after he and another man challenged Superior Court Judge David Roper’s ruling their name change petitions were somehow fraudulent or offensive. The Court of Appeals of Georgia overturned Roper’s ruling in January, changing state law.
Earlier this week, Feldhaus died suddenly after going into septic shock, a few days after having a hysterectomy at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
“Before his passing, Rowan Feldhaus made the decision to give the gift of life by registering as an organ donor,” LifeLink said in a statement. “With support of his family, Rowan will now save five lives through organ donations, and touch immeasurable others.”
