A Furman University student and 2012 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County was found dead in his apartment on Friday morning.
According to a statement from Furman president Elizabeth Davis, Joseph Blake Hadden, a senior, passed away in his campus apartment early Friday morning.
“Please take a moment to remember the life of Joseph Blake Hadden and his time as a member of our community,” Davis said. “May all who knew him find peace and comfort during this difficult time.”
The Greenville News reports Hadden was discovered unresponsive in bed by roommates who contacted authorities. He was pronounced dead at 3:40 a.m.
Hadden was set to graduate from the university at commencement exercises on Saturday night.
Hadden was a member of the golf team at Furman from 2012-2015 and competed at one event, the 2014 Furman Intercollegiate.
At the Academy of Richmond County, he was a member of the golf team for four years under coach Ken Johnson.
